Dan Stepan, the NCEMSF West Regional Coordinator, began his career in Emergency Medical Services with CE-Bar Fire Department in Austin, Texas in 2002. Dan was elected to the position of Assistant Chief of Explorer's Post 981, the junior fire fighting division of the fire department. In 2005 Dan reached the rank of Fire Fighter. In 2007 Dan was awarded EMT of the Year at CE-Bar Fire Department due to commitment to his job and excellent patient care. Dan joined Santa Clara University EMS in 2006 after going through the on-campus EMT program. In 2007 Dan became the Director of SCU EMS. Besides volunteering for SCU EMS, Dan volunteers for Rock Medicine, providing stand-by EMS support at Bay Area concerts, Events EMS working as medical stand-by for high school football games, and is also an American Heart Association CPR instructor.

Dan is a Finance major, Economics minor. He is hoping to pursue a full-time career with the fire department and obtain his paramedic license.
