Apr 14, 2007: A Brush with a Movie Star

Kristy and I flew the Warrior over to Genesee County Airport for its annual inspection.  Upon arriving on the ramp, we discovered that we shared it with a movie star: the B-17 that portrayed the Memphis Belle in the 1990 film of the same name.

The Flying Fortress was in Batavia awaiting a new engine, which promptly arrived by truck as we gawked at the bomber.

With the logbooks safely in the hands of my mechanic, we departed Genesee County for lunch in Williamsport, Pennsylvania (IPT).  We had a nice flight to Willamsport and back.  Lunch at the Skyview Restaurant was decent and the view of the commercial ramp was nice (IPT is a Class D airport - not exactly bustling).  We took this photo on our way back to Genesee County.
