Dave's 1943 Boeing Stearman, N68238

Dave owned this beautifully restored, immaculately maintained Stearman from '04 - '05.  Not only was it the perfect airplane for a flight on a calm summer morning or evening, but it was a privilege to have had some stick time in this beautiful vintage biplane.

September 03, 2005:  Right after bringing my Warrior back to Michigan from Oklahoma, I housed her in this sublet hangar in South Haven.  After I moved out, Dave moved in with the Stearman.  It was quite a sight seeing the familiar door opening to reveal a WWII-era biplane!

September 03, 2005:  The rumble of the Stearman's Continental turning over, the puffs of oil smoke as the engine clears, and the elegance of the wooden laminate propeller are all part of the Stearman's charm.

September 03, 2005: Tail-draggers spend every earthbound moment pointed skyward, perpetually longing to return to the air.

September 17, 2005:  Dave and I hosted a "Take Your Coworkers to the Airport" party at the South Haven Area Regional Airport.  The Stearman appears here silhouetted in the glow of the setting sun during the last flight of the day.  This beautiful photo was captured from the ground by Dan.
