NEIGHBORHOOD GAS LEAK
Date:
11/10/08
Just after lunch, the company was dispatched to assist the fire department office at Rock Glen Road and Surrey Lane. PECO Energy had been chasing an odor of gas in the neighborhood for the past few days, and had now located the leak. However the gas had seeped into an old steam line that runs through the homes in a large part of the neighborhood. With the possibility of an explosion high, firefighters went door to door checking the homes on several blocks for any hazards using gas meters. A multi-agency command post was established to document the homes checked and firefighter assignments. After three hours, it was determined that there was no immediate threat and the company went available for service.

AUGUST WRAP UP
Date:
8/31/08
The dog days of summer were in full swing this August, with a few calls here and there, but nothing of real interest. The month was closed out Labor Day weekend, with an Engine and Ladder cover up to Upper Darby Company 3. Upper Darby was operating at a two alarm commercial, one story shopping center strip fire. Initially only Ladder 21 made the response, but due to man power shortages else where, Engine 21 made the response a short time later. Chief 21 requested Gladwyne Engine 24 to cover our district. After approximately an hour, the company was released from Upper Darby.
