Database Search Help

Most of the search features on this system are straightforward. The rule of thumb is that if you leave a value blank, it will not be used in the search. This especially goes for things like school size.

You can select multiple values for some fields. State is one good example. Select your first state, and then while holding down the CTRL key (or command key on a Mac), use the mouse to select more states.

The most unintuitive feature of the search engine is the way to search for an organization (or multiple groups) by name. This employs the wildcard character %. Some examples below might shed some light on this:

  • If I needed to know all of the schools ending in "Pennsylvania," I could use one wildcard at the beginning and enter %Pennsylvania for the search term.
  • If I wanted to know schools starting with the word "University," I could use one wildcard at the end, giving the term University%.
  • If I were searching for the University of Alaska, I could use two wildcard characters and enter %Alask% for my search term.

Searches are not case sensitive. Uppercase and lowercase are treated the same.

Now get to it! Choose your search:
