Veterinary Emergencies: A Basic Guide for EMS Personnel

This presentation will explore the basics of veterinary emergencies. We will review the evaluation of dogs and cats and key clinical indicators of patient instability. We will explore common emergencies such as car accidents, smoke inhalation, heatstroke, and penetrating trauma. Additionally, we will discuss opioid overdoses and marijuana ingestion in dogs. Part of our discussion will include a review of basic emergency procedures such as oxygen administration, CPR, IV placement, and intubation in dogs and cats.
