EMS Research Design & Execution Panel

Research provides an exciting means to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in collegiate EMS and the broader medical field. Conducting research also opens up significant opportunities for travel, networking, and career development. Research can be fun, challenging and rewarding. Our goal for this session is to get you started on the path to conducting research and to help you get past some of the challenges. Secondarily, the session provides an opportunity for attendees to network with experts. In this panel discussion, we will focus on the major steps of performing a successful research project from start to finish. Talented and successful EMS researchers, many of whom started as collegiate EMS providers, will cover critical topics, including the identification of a research mentor, generation of a research question, study design, the role of institutional review boards, and submission for presentation and publication. The panelists will conclude the discussion with a lively Q&A session to prepare attendees to embark on their research journeys.
