Recruitment and Retention in EMS
Having recently represented the National League of Cities in a forum on recruitment and retention in the volunteer fire service, I felt that the issues faced in EMS are much more severe and critical in nature. Staffing shortages are becoming more prevalent as less people become involved in the industry, in addition to services closing their doors due to lack of funding and staffing. The presentation will outline several key areas that agencies can look at and improve upon in order to successfully recruit and retain EMS providers.
