The Art of Suturing- Skills Workshop

Ever wonder how the laceration to the face from a glass bottle was treated when the patient got to the ED? Learn the basics of suturing from experts in the field, including resident physicians in Plastic Surgery and Family Medicine. This hands-on workshop will introduce different types of suture material, options for wound closure, and suture techniques. We will also emphasis wound assessment principles which can be utilized in the field. Following a brief introduction to suturing, we will spend the majority of the class with hands-on, guided practice in a variety of suture methods. This workshop is designed for Collegiate EMTs interested in wound care, especially those interested in pursuing careers in medicine, physician's assistant, and nursing.
