Rice EMS Treats 1000th Patient

Press Release

On September 10, 1999 at 0012 CDT, Rice University EMS reached another milestone for our service: we treated our 1000th patient. (The call was for a student in one of our dorms who was vomiting and pale ... a good "sick call.")

In three short years, Rice EMS has grown from a couple of college students who saw a need for an EMS first responder program on campus to more than 40 responding members, including EMTs in every dorm on campus. We still have room for growth ... we have plans for ALS protocols and an ambulance in the future.

Thanks to NCEMSF for helping us out ... and hopefully our success will encourage younger programs to keep up the hard work.
