On the Basis of Gender: A look at Women in EMS
Women have gained a lot of respect in EMS since the first woman set foot on a firetruck in the 1950s. Unfortunately, EMS is still a largely male dominated field, and very few organizations have an even male and female distribution. In this lecture, we will take an in-depth look at the current gender climate of EMS, why this gender disparity needs to be addressed, and how you can address it within your own organization. This lecture will have helpful tips to mitigate conscious and unconscious gender biases in your organization and in the field, as well as how to encourage the women of your team and your campus to both go out for your team, stay active in the organization, and move up into leadership positions.
