Things That Go Boom
In recent years, the escalating frequency of intentional mass violence incidents throughout the USA has been of paramount concern. University campuses have been among the most frequent and most worrisome targets. This lecture is intended to discuss key components of EMS integration into the planning and operational aspects of tactical response. We will review national trends, emerging threats, and the approach we have taken at the University of Illinois to attempt to prepare for such a situation. Key focuses will include equipment and training requirements, logistical considerations, and response integration with patrol, SWAT, and EOD components of law enforcement.
