When Lightening Strikes

Whether it be a protest or an intramural sporting event, college campuses host hundreds of outdoor events a year, most occurring rain or shine. As such, EMS providers must be ready to tackle any environmental emergency. Using a recent case of a soccer player struck by lightening a few blocks from CMU as a case study, we will discuss the pre-hospital approach and management of lightening injuries. During the second half of the talk, we will expand more broadly to cover other, more common, electrical injuries.
