The National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting collegiate EMS groups across the United States and around the world.
Founded in 1993 by a group of collegiate EMTs hailing from multiple schools, NCEMSF has grown to an organization which represents more than 250 institutions. NCEMSF works throughout the year to assist these groups with formation, growth, and any challenges that may appear. In addition, NCEMSF advocates for the development and enhancement of these groups through standards-based self-evaluation in EMS operations, emergency cardiac care, and emergency preparedness. Leveraging our network of alumni of collegiate EMS programs as well as mentors and advisors from higher education, full-time EMS providers, physicians, and others, NCEMSF also assists its members with career development recommendations, research programs, and scholarship. In 2017, NCEMSF established the Journal of Collegiate EMS, a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to collegiate emergency medical services organizations and topics relevant to that audience. And each year, NCEMSF holds an in-person Conference which brings together collegiate EMTs, advisors and medical directors, and others to provide continuing education, allow for networking, and promote the growth of collegiate EMS.
Supporting these various activities are an all-volunteer team of staff, all of whom have backgrounds in collegiate EMS. The Board of Directors provides executive leadership to the Foundation, and includes individuals who helped found NCEMSF more than 30 years ago. The Division and Program Chairs provide specific support to various focus areas of the Foundation. And the Regional Coordinator network handles direct outreach to and communication with NCEMSF's institutional members, as well as assisting the Division and Program chairs with various Foundation projects. In addition, all staff members provide in-person support at the Foundation's annual Conferences, and many also deliver lectures or conduct skills labs.
