Exemplifying the theme of National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, which was celebrated May 15-22, Penn State's EMS program has shown itself to be "There When You Need Us." The National Collegiate EMS Foundation recently presented Penn State's EMS program with the EMS Organization of the Year award, in recognition of outstanding service to the Penn State University Park campus.

Penn State EMTs deliver a vital service for students, employees and visitors to the University Park campus. University Ambulance Service responded to 805 calls from patients having medical emergencies and provided emergency services to spectators and participants at 322 special events in the 2002-2003 academic year.
