George Koenig, NCEMSF President, is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Acute Care Surgery: Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery of Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He is the Associate Medical Director of JeffSTAT and the Trauma Program Medical Director at TJUH as well as the Medical Co-Director of the Center for Operational Resource Efficiency (CORE) and the Transfer Center. He completed a surgical critical care fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2010. Prior to that, he did his general surgery residency training at the Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 2003. He also holds a Masters degree in Biomedical Science from PCOM. In 1996, he graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. While attending college, he was active with Bucknell's quick response group. He served as President of the Bucknell Emergency Response Team from 1994 to 1996. Dedicated to the advancement of collegiate EMS, he became involved with NCEMSF in 1993 at the first annual conference held at Georgetown University. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Constitutional Committee and Temporary Governing Board from 1995 to 1996. He has served as President since 1996.
