ABOUT S.U. AMBULANCE
Today, more than 60 volunteer staff members make up Syracuse University Ambulance (SUA), which provides emergency medical services to Syracuse University, SUNY ESF and the city of Syracuse. SUA is a S.U. Health Services-based, student operated organization that responds to more than 1,500 emergencies a year, providing basic life support, transport, rapid cardiac defibrillation capabilities, as well as non-emergency transportation. SUA currently runs 2 full time BLS ambulances; the newest being purchased in August, 2003. Our campus response and special event standby services keep our staff busy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year. As being funded from student health fees and student government associations, there is no out of pocket expense for registered SU and ESF students and faculty. During the past year, SUA was presented with the National Collegiate EMS Foundation's "Outstanding Award of Achievement" and was re-presented with the award for "Striving for Excellence", an award held for a three year period.
