KINGSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- A North Attleboro man was hospitalized Saturday after his car crashed on the University of Rhode Island's Kingston Campus Saturday night.

According to the university, URI police were called to Butterfield Road just after 9 p.m. Officials confirmed that Barry Blomstedt, 64, struck two light poles and a stone wall before his vehicle came to a stop.

Campus EMS crews arrived at the scene to assist campus police. South Kingstown EMS and the Kingston Fire Department also responded to the scene. Blomstedt was taken to South County Hospital and was later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital, campus officials said.

According to the university, the vehicle came to a stop in front of the Potter Building, which houses the university's Health Services.

At last check, Lifespan had no information on Blomstedt's condition.
